3 Must Visit Locations in North Carolina

(in no particular order)

Locations seem to be the hardest part of planning a photo session. I always get the question “do you have any locations in mind?” Luckily, part of my job is to find the perfect location for you! I always love a session in a sentimental place like a family owned farm but nothing beats the mountains of Western NC. I have compiled a list of my absolute favorite places to book sessions and each place is a must see if you aren’t from this area.

1. LOOKING GLASS falls

This set of falls is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and can be seen from the road. It’s an short walk to the bottom since there are stairs to make the trek easier. The waterfall is about 60’ tall and absolutely gorgeous any time of year. It is dog friendly and even swim friendly if you visit during the warmest months (otherwise it’s freezing).

2. Black Balsam

One of my all-time favorite locations. I have had my own photos taken at this location and man, it really is breathtaking. It’s off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, southwest of Asheville, NC. The hike is not too difficult but it is closed most of the winter due to the road conditions. There is a panoramic view from the top and it is THE definition of what makes WNC so desirable.

3. Frying Pan Tower

This old fire tower is one of my favorite places to go for unmatched views. You can literally see every mountain top from the tower and it is jaw-dropping. It is located off the Blue Ridge Parkway and it is a bit of a walk to reach the tower but it IS worth it. I love going up around sunset because the golden hour is literally the best thing in this world.

If you would like to book a session at any of these locations, make sure to visit my Inquire page to send me an email and set up a time to chat!
